  • Thank you to Scott and Griffin both for your thoughtful answers. It seemed like it would exist under siege weaponry. Though this leads me to another questions. Would the person who runs up and attaches the door busting bomb/device need to have a Writ of Vaylah? Do the gunners on Skyships have to be Sunborn? What about using Vaylah powder for non combat uses like blasting in a mine or collapsing entrances to dangerous caves?

  • Do petards exist among the vaylah weaponry of Shard? dardunah.com/forum4/index.php/…005517ed62741895b1cdcd39b Hamlet: There's letters seal'd, and my two schoolfellows, Whom I will trust as I will adders fang'd— They bear the mandate, they must sweep my way And marshal me to knavery. Let it work; For 'tis the sport to have the enginer Hoist with his own petard, an't shall go hard But I will delve one yard below their mines And blow them at the moon. Hamlet Act 3,scene 4, 202–209 [/quote]

  • Looking to eventually GM a game or play with another group who is running Shard. I haven't GM'd a game in many years but I'm eager to resurrect and polish those skills. I live an hour from San Antonio and two hours from Austin, but would be up for traveling to Austin or hosting a monthly game here.

Quote from Scott Jones: “ The interesting thing to note here, concerning folks like priests, monks, etcetera, is that not all members of the Holy Caste actually "need" to know how to read and write to perform their duties concerning knowing and understanding various holy texts. Many of these have been very painstakingly learned over time not by reading, but by oral traditions carefully repeated and passed down from master to student... In most Vedic traditions on Earth (especially the more ancie…

  • I know there's a World Guide in progress. Will it talk about the basic education of each caste member? What percentage of each caste can read or do arithmetic?

Quote from Ednoria: “ Mummification is pretty interesting, once again could be done by savages/demon worshippers, since most of Dardunah practices cremation. Or, since one of the reasons that cremation is practiced is to free the spirit from the body, doing mummification instead might be a magical way to trap the soul inside the body so it can't reincarnate. That would be a cool adventure -- come upon a mummy and figure out what to do with it so the spirit can escape without further harm. And th…

What are the appropriate rituals/disciplines for a Sirhibas to create something like a love potion or some other emotion manipulating an NPC? Are things like love potions, or even hate potions for that matter, within the scope of Shard sorcery? I know based on the rules it might not be long lasting at all, or a few days at most unless a story point is expended on it. How would this be implemented with other players if say I wanted to make magic rum that was true courage in a bottle?

Quote from griffin: “I am a person who absolutely loves running felines of all types, am I correct in assuming that you might also be a fan of felines? ” I love cats...especially wildcats. I mean, big cats are cool but the small cats are where its at. Bobcats, ocelots, sandcats, oncilla, caracals, marbled cats, etc. My next character is probably going to be a jaguarundi or a Borneo Bay Cat. Both are kind of strange looking, slinky, sinister cats.

I can't really tell looking at the art in the Basic Compendium, but do the cats (small, medium, and large) have retractable claws?

  • After all this time, making an account here like this seemed like a good idea. I'm a fan of the universe. The rules sometimes confuse me so I plan on posting a few questions here. I've not read all the posts in all the forums, so I'm going to apologize right now for any questions I got that someone already asked. Really though, I make no apologies for anything else. That's what happens when you're a Goth Emu Fool. Look forward to getting questions answered and making a few friends. Is Shard trul…
