This is really cool material. You might want to look at Lord Howe Island for another possible location.

I have one of those books that writers use to define archetypal characters. It is really useful for defining a type of person you want to play and helps set you on a path for that type of character. If two players choose archetypes that are at odds in some way it can add to the inherent drama of a game.

    weapons vs natural weapons

    iceage - - SHARD Combat

    Post

I don't really have a problem with the rules as written. Expensive weapons serve two purposes. One they are status symbols. Two they show that you are ready for action. One thing I do find kind of interesting is that the damage resistance from armor stacks. So a turtle wearing armor gets to add the armor value on top of their natural armor.

    Hardazi

    iceage - - Campaign Discussions

    Post

The Hardazi don't have to be mindless cannon fodder. Why are they blocking the river is the main question. Maybe they want Hadrah to die off. The Hardazi might have blocked the river for religuous purposes. Also who would gain in Hadrah by getting the Hardazi to block the river. For Example: Minkel a merchant is looking to move out of Hadrah. He has made a little money here but wishes to increase his holdings and status. Over the past couple years he has bought up all of the free flowing springs…

    Ring of Blazes

    iceage - - SHARD Magic

    Post

Ring of Blazes This uncommon enchantment allows an item. Usually this is cast on a ring, glove, staff, or other hand held item. It charges the item with a limited amount of Prana that is converted to fire when the proper command word is given. When the prana in the item is expended it disintegrates. When cast by the enchanter the total number of successes are split between the number of uses and the possible damage.

    Lethal Combat

    iceage - - SHARD Combat

    Post

I've only had one really lethal combat incident. I had one enemy absolutely flub his attack against a decent attack score. The player combined their actions and scored well and the bad guy combined his roll and completely botched that roll. The NPC would've died anyway so I told the player that it looked like the bad guy was going to dodge and must have moved wrong and got his head chopped off

    inception

    iceage - - SHARD Magic

    Post

yes inception was very good and it feels a lot like the way a dream walker might affect the minds of its victims. In my last game one of my players tried to take on a more powerful dream walker. I let one of the other players control the enemy dream walker to prevent boredom from setting in. The results were very interesting. The hero lost to the villain in the dream world. A lot of successes and a roll of double 6's to see what the result would be caused the hero to be trapped in the dream worl…

    My thoughts

    iceage - - SHARD Combat

    Post

Don't know what a Makrah is . Do you mean Makri, sort of like a giant two-tailed scorpion? If so, they have 4 points of armor that should protect it from each attack that hits it regardless of wether or not it has any defense rolls left. 1- sucess = 1/2 damage 2-3 successes = full damage 4-5 successes = x2 damage 6-7 successes = x3 damage take your base damage and add the total number of successes. so 2+6 = 8 base damage. 6 successes also qualifies you for a x3 multiplier. 8x3 =24. Subtract the …

    an idea

    iceage - - SHARD Combat

    Post

I liked the Yevasa and it gave me a kind of strange idea. Kebanz Now known as the League of Kebanz there was once a group of warriors who believed living suthra were the ultimate weapons. To this end they only practiced with suthra. In time a break appeared in the order. One side believed that while very good that being solely dependent upon the suthra was a bad idea. The other side found it heretical to the original beliefs to believe that any normal weapon could be as good as a Suthra. This se…

    Barter

iceage - - World of Dárdünah

    Post

I think the idea of barter is very important to the world of Dardunah. It offers a change of how many gold pieces is that or that. In my first session I had a Lawyer, A mercenary, and a Monk. While they were all decent combatants persuasion and wit worked better for most of the things they had to do. After the party was soundly beaten by an equal sized enemy force the leader of the enemies walked off and left the good guys alive. He wasn't being paid to kill them and they weren't able to interfe…

    Suthra Fortune Tellers

iceage - - World of Dárdünah

    Post

Personally I like the idea of Suthra Fortune telling devices. Narda was said to be one of the greatest of Dream Walkers. His method now used by many was once unheard of. He placed his hands on a bowl of small suthra called imoni and entered his trance. As the Parana traveled through his body the imoni in the bowl began to spell out words. What visions were in the dream world was translated into words by the Imoni. A scribe often sat with Narda writing the prophecies. It is said that Narda create…

    The Projector

    iceage - - General Discussion

    Post

In my first Dardunah gaming session I used a device built with a series of crystal lenses. It could project images that were engraved into other crystals. It should be noted that this device was large and fragile. Now with the proper alignment of the crystals this projector could be used to generate a laser like beam. This device was originally going to be used to assassinate an ambassador.

To the Apache Obsidian absorbed any evil energy it came into contact with, storeing it and slowly converting it to good energy (Parana?). Thus a weapon made of this type of crystal might for example be able to cut threw a magic ward/barrier/protection that the Demon raises or uses. Or even weaken it causing it to loose action dice for that round every time it is struck.” Quite personally I think this would be more li…
