Quote from Teenage Mutant Sarpah: “The anticipation is just killing me! Has any art been finished since you last informed us of the current state of progress?” Yes indeed! We are now down to three pieces of art we're currently waiting on from other artists, and then a small handful I'm in the middle of touching up wile preparing for them to get implanted into the final document! We're so close!

Oooohhh,...that's a tough process to try to explain here, and it's not really something we offer through the forums or downloads, even through the downloadable "Welcome Book", since Character Creation is essentially the "engine" of the game that's meant to be available only through the "Basic Compendium"... However, barring what would have to end up being an enormous conversation (since entire game sessions at the beginning of campaigns are often taken up with character creation alone), what I c…

    Hropa and his Mate

Scott Jones - - World of Dárdünah

    Post

For the most part, the war between the Devah was a war fought along the lines of those who were willing to stand with Amasurah, and those who reviled her for her treachery... Though it was indeed a war of siblings, many of the different holy treatises vary concerning who was on who's side at any given time during that ancient, legendary conflict... We might try to define this later (perhaps in the "World Guide"), but for now the essential description assumes that it was really a war of Amasúrah …

    Nilam and Agnosticism

Scott Jones - - World of Dárdünah

    Post

In many ways I'd say that, because of the general belief and understanding that the Devah are very real, and that their powers can actually be seen to manifest at times (at least according to many), they are as revered as one's own parents might be, but with a LOT more power...an a great deal more subtle influence and presence... What this means is that characters and NPCs choosing not to show reverence will be chided by their peers, and warned that the Devah will surely show disfavor because of…

Hello again everyone! Here we have another fun preview of art from the upcoming book! With this, we only have three more images we're waiting on artists for, and several images I'm still touching up to get them ready for being implanted!!! Please enjoy another excellent image soon to appear in our 'Magic and Martial Arts" book, this time a fine representation of battle between sir-hibasi in the Dream! This piece, created by the artist Ilse Gort, displays the colorful environment of the Dreamreal…

    Slavery in Dardunah

Scott Jones - - World of Dárdünah

    Post

In Dárdünah, slavery is less about species, and more about the laws and social aspects of the different countries... The only real exception would be Sustrum (which is mostly ruled by felines, and which has been know to look down on non-felines, including keeping them as slaves and servants), and as you mentioned, the Klin, who feel the same way about all non-bats... Rarely though, in general, is it a species thing... And so in dealing with your first question, the morals pertaining to any "slav…

Quote from Mattroidprime: “...http://dragonflight.org/ ? Y'know, if you're so inclined to show up to a tiny convention in WA state. :D” Sadly we won't get these books back in time to be able to attend that convention with our new stuff, but I'd love to be able to go to this! I actually have friends living in Seattle, and it would be cool to coincide a trip there to see them and then attend this convention... Perhaps next year! Scottie

This all sounds wonderful, and I also encourage this kind of exploration into real-world conditions and aspects of humanity that make us unique! As Griffin mentioned, choosing Advantages versus Drawbacks is important in such cases, to insure that it represents the particular trait in a way that not only allows for excellent game-play, but also acts as a tool for philosophical exploration of the condition itself! To do this, I recommend taking BOTH an Advantage AND a Drawback to represent a trait…

Yes indeed,...I've read through these in recent years, and I really enjoy how well the characters are described and brought to life! It was actually my new business partner Andrew that introduced me to them! Very inspiring stuff, and artfully beautiful! Scottie

Hopefully you fine folks will enjoy the mix of traits for all the new Zoics... We've tried to base them both on actual science (when possible) as well as a blending of iconic archetypes established in popular tales and media (which would have informed the psyche behind the forces that transformed them into Zoics in the first place)...

Quote from Teenage Mutant Sarpah: “Two things that I thought In the Basic Compendium Manatees were mentioned among potential water animals...However Manatees don't seem to be templated And...I have an interest in Hyraxs if I wanted to play a Hyrax would I modify Gopher or subtract Pouch from the Wombat Template?” Manatees and Dugong are both pinipeds, and could generally be produced using the Walrus template (which can also be used to create seals, sea-lions, and other such characters)... Once we get this book off to the printer (only 6 images left to complete!!!!), we'll be discussing which conventions (if any) we'll still have time to attend this year... We already know it's far too late to get booth-space, but we might still be able to attend a few hang around Studio 2's area when possible, and perhaps even run demo games, if we can secure some table-space somewhere... Worry not,...if we can make it to ANY of the remaining conventions this year, we'll let everyone know!!!! Sco…

The Twilight Wars would certainly be epic, no doubt... Unfortunately, it could also end up like War and Peace... Most likely, a storyline for a film would need to be more personal in nature, covering something that could be considered "grand" but at the same time dealing with heroes that can be focused on in a very individual way (in the same way that the movie "Willow", regardless of the fact that it dealt with many peoples, kingdoms, large battles and such, was at the end of the day the somewh…

And, of course, don't forget the amazing dishes of India to use as inspiration!!! Ghorüm suggested a few of these,...and there are SO MANY more to explore and blend with the exotic insect elements of the Shard game... Add to that some freaky live delicacies just to gross-out your players from time to time (slimy, yet satisfying!), and you can really create some fun moments in-game.... Though a lot of this should be left up to the GM and the players' imaginations in general, Andrew and I hope to …

Quote from Teenage Mutant Sarpah: “I have a character from my Non-Shard Anthro Animal fiction, Rory Stag a Heterosexual White Tailed Deer who enjoys being spanked by Beautiful Females...Is White Tailed Deer classified as Deer Large, or the Yet to be released Deer Small? Because if I were to adapt Rory into a Shard Character which would he be?” Ah,...as far as which Template you might use to create a white-tailed deer, either one would suffice, since those two templates overlap in both Height and…

Quote from Mattroidprime: “Mind, the characters were pregenerated, so I only had 1/6th of a say in what to choose, but to Wolf's credit only one cat was present. Our Mistress was a wolf, but we had quite the cross section of species in our little coterie.” Excellent! I'm glad you had fun!!! Hopefully ReaperWolf will be giving us the low-down on the adventure itself sometime soon! I love hearing how these things play themselves out at conventions! Scottie

Quote from Teenage Mutant Sarpah: “If I wanted to play a White Tailed Deer, would it be classified as Deer Large or the yet to be released Deer Small?” Oh, I can answer this question! The height and weight ranges of both templates you mention (Large and Small Deer) overlap, thus allowing any deer that one might consider to be "Medium-sized" to be created using EITHER template as a base, depending on which set of Attributes seem to fit best the particular deer you have in mind to play. And of cou…
