Is the Magic and Martial Arts book going to be released as a PDF on drivethrurpg around the same time as the physical book or perhaps a little sooner to garner some interest? Just curious as I do intend to buy the physical book when it becomes available.

This is cool. I can see it used as a way to introduce some players to the world of Dardunah and then into the Shard RPG. Plus it definitely looks fun to play when there is not enough time or interest to RP.

That's cool that the world in Nausica inspired Shard. The visuals of the jungle and some of the insects in it sure were cool. The movie's story was quite well done too, so definitely a good film. If it were not for the fact that I had done a search for anime movies that were considered appealing for adults, I probably never would have found it. As it is, I have not been much of an anime fan and only recently started looking into them as a means of entertainment. Particularly after grabbing a PDF…

I'm just curious if Aaron or Scott have ever watched the anime film or perhaps read the manga of the same name? Why do you ask? I just watched it myself for the very first time and saw many things that seem to inspire some Dardunah creatures and plant life in the movie. The giant insects, especially the Ohmu seem almost perfect for Dardunah as they resemble the Buthan very much. There were also flying centipede type creatures that reminded me of the Vurtach and others that could have almost pass…

    Scavenger RPG

I must have missed this post when on the forum earlier, but I love the idea of this game. We had something similar (single planetary system RP where characters scavenged things off wrecked ships) we tried on a forum a few years back, so I am definitely interested in this one. Our RP never did really take off, though it was fun while it lasted. Not sure what your races will be, but our RP made use of two "alien" races, humans, Automatons (sentient robots,) and Extendeds which were our take on the…

As part of Furcadia's very successful Kickstarter campaign, the game's creator Felorin (or Dr. Cat to those outside of Furc) did a Twitch.tv live stream where he visited various dreams on Furcadia and answered questions. One of my players invited him to stop by our Shard Dream while he was streaming, and he did so. I thought I would share a link to the recorded video of that stream so that those interested could see exactly what our little space for playing Shard really looks like. Do feel free …

If so, could it turn those "rotors" fast enough, and at the right angle, to lift off like a helicoptor for a time?” I'm not sure, though I did notice the rotation myself. I also liked how the top opened and closed in one portion of the video. It reminded me of how a jellyfish swims and I could totally see that for a suthra. I will admit, a helicopter crab sounds cool though. Maybe if one of the little…

While browsing videos on Youtube, I stumbled across this one for a small robot that has inspired visions of a crab-like suthra for me. I can totally envision a living creature moving very much like this little robot. Hexapodal Robot What do you think? Wouldn't something like this make for a cool suthra? *Envisions a small glowing pulsating crab type suthra that janah keep as a pet or a large more dangerous one that they find out in the wild.* I would not want that thing rolling up into a ball wi…

Oh, wow! I love this preview. Thanks for posting it. Nice to hear about the progress your making too. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

That's awesome... or as one of my Furcadia friends likes to say 'Pawesome!' I think it's great how much work you are getting done and am really looking forward to seeing it when it gets released. *Pats Scott on the back.*

    Furcadia Kickstarter

Yeah, it seems to be going pretty good so far. I hope it continues to do well for them. On a related note that may be of interest to you and Aaron, I just stumbled onto another project that proves that "Anthro RPGs" can run a successful Kickstarter. kickstarter.com/projects/2063410154/cairn?ref=category It apparently met its goal in just a day or so already and is only running a 10 day campaign. That is enough to impress me that anthro gaming is not as unpopular as some gamers try to say it is. …

Hey everyone, Just thought you all might be interested in knowing that Furcadia (The World's Officially Longest Running Social MMO according to Guinness) is currently running a Kickstarter project to bring Furcadia onto the web and hopefully give it a much needed update. Please do check out their project and goals at: kickstarter.com/projects/18108…cadia-the-second-dreaming Thanks everyone, and as we say on Furcadia... Happy Dreaming!

Oh, it sounds like you are getting to the fun part. I really want to develop a martial arts style after seeing a video of a secretary bird fending off an eagle who was trying to steal its lunch with some high leaping kicks. (Unless there is one in there like that already, which would still be cool. ) You rock, Scott! Thanks for all your hard work, and you too Aaron! I am getting really excited about the game again.

  • User Avatar

Awesome, Scott! Don't forget to take a small break every now and then. (Don't boo this suggestion, people! He deserves one once in a while. :P)

  • User Avatar

That is awesome, Scott! You've certainly got me interested and waiting to see all of the new Martial Styles. Any plans to maybe share a teaser or two as you get closer to finished?

Don't feel bad about it. I've found similar mistakes in other published books before that had to have made it past several editors and proofreaders in order to be in the book. (One of the top selling book series ever has a few that I noticed.) I've been told that I should have become a professional proofreader a few times because I have a knack for noticing the little things that do sometimes get missed. I just figured that if you are able to fix it in the future, you might like to is all. Thank…

Thank you both. Scottie's above posts about how to make simply being weaker because of being younger (or elderly) as a drawback does make sense now and I see how it can be used to limit the character physically how we wanted to do. We didn't want her to be totally crippled, but perform most physical feats a step below a comparable adult. I had thought of something along those lines after making my other post but was not quite sure how to effectively write it. Scottie's options seem like the best…

Quote: “it also recommends that you have them take physical drawbacks for being a juvenile as well” Now see that is where I had some concerns and decided to simply do the compromise with the lower characteristics. The examples given in the rules for Physical Drawbacks don't really seem appropriate for a character who is simply younger but otherwise healthy and whole. Disfigurements, Illnesses, Mobility Impairments, Perception Impairments, Speech Disorders, and Zoic Disadvantages... other than be…

Tonight I was finally able to sit down (virtually anyway) with my two friends who wish to play on Furcadia and help them fill out most of their character sheets. A special Thank you to Sherbie for the interactive PDF as it makes this so much easier! Anyway, we are starting with the characters at the Talented Power level, so I had to help them try and spend their points wisely on things they would need or find useful for their characters. One thing that came up is that one of the players wants to…
