• RE: Suthra Weapon

Yeah I had a few ideas for suthra weapons a while back, but they havent really come up in any of our campaigns yet... :D

Chakju (couldnt think of a proper name)
Type of suthra held like a firearm which coughs/spits a corrosive goop when it's gland's pouch is being squeezed (run in the mill).

Thundercrack Beetle
Bombardier beetle type suthra that let off explosive noises once they receive a signal they have been trained for. Used to create distractions and the like.

Savior Beetle
Armored beetle that is trained to scuttle around your body and try to ward off incoming melee hits with it's shell.

Monarch
A type of "queen" suthra held inside a locket that if opened reveals the queen with a punctured amber glass keeping her from escaping, but still giving her the ability to call to her kind. It is trained make swarms of small suthra (aiborne or crawling depending on the type of monarch) follow you around and rally them to attack your enemies (or if you fail to control it, you).

Love the spider idea too. :3

• Exos- This multi tetacled suthra attaches arounn the users torso and their arms and legs. Rather than giving the user a weapon it instead boosts the users strength allowing them to wield larger weapons thus doing more damage.

Burner- This bulbuous suthra can mix and spray chemicals that ignite when they come into contact with oxygen. It also contains a fire retardant that i can spray on itself and wielder

• Sack of Fleas
Simple, can be thrown at your furred adversaries to cause them to get itchy. Has a chance to subtract Combat Actions due to scratching! xD
(a hobo-hive grenade!)

Projectile Sowbug
When you tickle it's stomach, it rolls up to a tight, tough ball which can be thrown or shot with a pellet bow. Unfolds as it lands and attacks the nearest creature, or just burrows in the ground or rolls back up.

Not really "weapons" per se but:

Suthra Tools

Suthra Compass
Instead of having metal compasses that align to the poles, a certain species of suthra is employed that has an uncanny sense for direction. It is bred to always try to face the direction of their birth.

Pain Reliever
Small, poisonous worms oozing with a special poison that numbs pain locally. They can be packed in bags that can be bound to wounds and other sources of pain to temporary and partly reliefe the wearer of damage-related penalties.

Giant Libella
Attaches to your back and can lift slender zoics for a short ammount of time.

That's a good idea! :D

All this talk about suthra weapons reminds me of a sloppy mock-up weapon design I did for a mod I worked with :D

You'd shoot lobsters at your enemies who'd pinch their claws onto them and slow them down... xD

Now the way it's done here is just silly, but I can maybe adapt it... xD

Leaping Jattü Pincher
A small to medium sized type of Suthra that is bred inside hollow wooden tubes (bamboo?) with one end blocked with wax and the other covered with a cloth.
The Jattü are fed and prepared in almost absolute darkness by Janah with the ability of nightvision.
Once they reach their adult stage, and the cloth is removed by pulling a string, the Jattü, stirred up by the light, speed through the tube at breakneck speeds, launching themselves out of it. They will latch onto any creature they connect with tightly and are hard to remove.
A string attached to the Jattü and the tube allows the user to reel in his catch. This weapon is often used by slavers and hunters.

Went ahead and made a sketch of that, plus a variation of the whole idea (nabbed the paper texture from google images cuz I wuz lazeh so I claim no copyright on the background):

Minara Centipede
[Blocked Image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/Philot/Stuff/mirana3.jpg]
A peculiar parasite without eyes. It feels it's prey's electric potentials via an extremely sophisticated sensory system. This particular breed is attached to an amputated limb and is trained to act as prosthetic. It feels the intensly low potentials generated by loose nerve ends and interpretes this by executing a movement.
Players with a high rank in suthra use, using well trained Minara can fulfill more complex movements and control the minara with higher accuracy.
Minara Centipedes come in different lenghts and sizes, can be used to replace lost arms, legs (like those bent metal prosthetics) and tails.
The breeding of this specimen was conducted by Jgerji of the House Minara, who specialized in breeding Suthra for medical purposes.

Minara Pincher
[Blocked Image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/Philot/Stuff/minara_crab_2.jpg]
This peculiar crab-like suthra is the result of many years of masterful breeding as conducted by the famous breeder Jgerji Minara, where the mundane Five Clawed River Pincher was not only altered to have a similar claw configuration as a Janah's hand and formidable strength but also enough intellect to be trained. It responds to the tugging of the arm's sinews and moves it's claws to create the proper hand gesture.
The idea for the Minara came Jgerji when a local Lord and good friend of his returned from battle and had lost one of his hands at the wrist.
As a present, he thought he would find a way to replace his hand.
Sadly, breeding the Minara Crab took so long that the task outlived Jgerji, and was carried on by his heirs. Finally, 3 Centuries later the Minara Pincher had reached near perfection.

Thanks! I think it depends on how much gunpowder one would need to propel a lobster. xD

Thank you dude. :3 I'm planning to do more once I done enough preperations for my own campaign.

Yeah it all comes down to practice. :3 Make sure to use plenty references, it really helps. ;)

The Yevaasa resembles a mix between a libella and a praying mantis of our world. It's body is thin and elongated, it's legs short and it's forelegs do not form chitin clamps, but deadly sharp scythes.

This suthra combines a companion (pet), weapon (suthra staff/scythe) and tool (walking stick) and it's thanks to it's masterful breeding, formidable intelligence and good training that it's able to do so.

The Yevaasa is generally not poisonous (might change my mind on that).

When used as a melee weapon, the user can use the Yevaasa in a similar fashion as a fighting staff, or have the suthra swipe at the enemy with it's scythes:

• I liked the Yevasa and it gave me a kind of strange idea.

Kebanz

Now known as the League of Kebanz there was once a group of warriors who believed living suthra were the ultimate weapons. To this end they only practiced with suthra. In time a break appeared in the order. One side believed that while very good that being solely dependent upon the suthra was a bad idea. The other side found it heretical to the original beliefs to believe that any normal weapon could be as good as a Suthra. This second group thought the fault was in the users training and not the weapon.
The group eventually broke up with one group becoming the Purists of Kebanz and the other retaining the original name.
History tells us that the purists hire themselves out for jobs where they can prove the worth of their suthra weapons.
