    • What Inspires your Combat?

      One thing I recently realized:
For running campaigns in a martial-arts-heavy system such as Shard, I know too little about actual Martial Arts Legends & Lore.

      And the reason is simple.
I watch WAY too little Kung-Fu flicks!
Or I generally have missed out on some other source of useful lore...

So in this thread, I bid thee:

Tell us what movies, books or other things inspire your thrilling martial arts combat!

PS: There's also a great list of inspiring movies on Ghorüm's page "Wúxia Heroes of Dárdünah". Just scroll down a bit!

    • In our campaign the PC haven't learned Martial arts so far - the fistfights in the game are looking a bit like Indiana Jones with the "all-I-can-find-wrestling-style". But it's the best when the character is telling what is he going to do (a similar scene to the larynx crushing in our campaign was in DragonBall Z when Vegeta used his knee to crush his foes neck).
I think the best examples for SHARD-style Martial Arts are:
      -Bruce Lee Movies
-Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (never seen the whole movie, but I know how they fight)
-various anime series - DragonBall, Fist of the North Star, Ranma...
