Reaper Wolf's post about the PCs setting up a house for their mistress reminded me that I have some questions about how Houses work. Let's say I'm a noble connected to a large House -- do I have my own residence in town, separate from the House's main palace? Or do I have rooms in the palace? In "The Accursed Well", several of the characters are said to be part of House Ayrram. I'm sure that palace covers a lot of space and has a lot of buildings, but I wonder if all the Sunborn connected to it live there.
Also, when the head of the House dies, I guess the House gets retitled to the heir, right? Again, going by "The Accursed Well", Ayrram's son is Márüh. If he inherits the House after his father dies, would it then be House Márüh? Seems like it might cause a bit of confusion, but I guess that's how scribes earn their living, making sense of this stuff!
