Sorry it took me awhile to respond to this...
Do you mean scary campaign moment archetypes in general, or do you mean specific examples of scary moments in people's individual games? -
I guess specific scary moments in individual games

For my campaign it was the moment I first introduced a being called "The Accursed", essentially the Shard version of a lycanthrope... This horrifying creature is a jánah that has been cursed in some way such that it occasionally transforms into a terrifying "were-insect" abomination, for lack of a better term... Like the werewolves of legend and folklore, but mixed with the even more savage and powerful version seen in more modern fiction, this practically indestructible killing machine revealed itself as a terrible servant of an incredibly wicked sorceress from Klinráh, and attacked the players (who were all young children in this particular campaign) in the dark and shadowy hold of a ship upon which they were attempting to escape the creature's master.
The buildup to that moment was incredibly creepy, they honestly thought that they had successfully escaped, but it had stowed away on board along with them, and they didn't even realize it. At the darkest time of night, as the ship rocked upon the waves and they desperately attempted to sleep after many days of difficult preparation for their journey, the creature came looking for them in its mundane jánah form. But when they began to realize something was terribly wrong and that this stranger had begun to individually search each of the crates in which they were hiding, they tried to flee past him to sound the alarm. That was when it began to chase them down, hideously transforming before their very eyes, shocking most of them into stunned inaction. What followed was an epic fight to avoid its horrible, grasping talons, it gnashing teeth, and it terrifying ability to shrug off almost any attempt to harm it...
Luckily most of them were fast enough to avoid its clutches, but there were multiple incredibly close calls, near-death moments, and a host of unlucky dice rolls that nearly spelled their collective dooms... The thing could have easily slaughtered everyone aboard that vessel, but a combination of their arcane skills and a smattering of martial arts tactics allowed them to eventually draw it out into the open where it could be attacked by multiple people at once, temporarily damaging it enough to allow one of them to summon a terrible monster from the deep that rose up from the ocean to devour the thing whole before it could swiftly heal with its supernatural abilities. The children all knew, however, that The Accursed could never truly die until it was killed with a weapon crafted from cold-carved Blue Stone of Rabíshu. Their only hope was that, even if it escaped the clutches of the giant, ravenous brittle-star that devoured it, it would drown endlessly in the depths of the Sea of Vigára, perhaps one day washing upon some foreign shore, and hopefully never being able to track them down again... -
Was this the game with the Outcaste Children? I was under the impression the kindly master was a Bat from Klinrah was the Wicked Master also a Bat?
