Worldmap additions

  • Worldmap additions

My friend Beverly Garland had a suggestion that the Worldmap needs to have a distance scale guide, a directional compass, and perhaps even the indication of a Darduni cartographer's signature added to it. I agree.

In addition, I feel the need to add the commerce and trade symbols and definitions on the map as well, to indicate the origin of specific trade-goods in the world...

I agree . I think it might get confusing, or look a bit "crowded" with all the colors on the current map. Might wanna try knocking out 50 or 70% of the topographical colors, or backing up all the additives with a non directional dropshadow to give em some "punch", or even make a second map that is more of an "illustrated" navigational chart type of map.

As for the compass rose, I saw a VERY cool lookin' astrolab, or astrogale, (don't remember which it was called) that was made in the middleeast somewhere in the early teen-hundreds that might make a cool refrence for the rosetta of the cardinal directions. I'll see if I can find an image of it.
I'd rather kiss Satha Vortoc on his sything death-hole

That's a cool image for the astrolabe ZClip,..thanks! I'll keep that in mind while designing the map compass (though I'll be keeping the design as simple as possible so as to keep it "easily readable"). As far as the map as a whole goes, for the books and the additional poster, I'm going to stick with the colors for now, though I may try to find a way to "mute" them, if possible. The map may be up for a redesign eventually, but for now, I'm going to try adding these extra features without making the map any more "muddy" if I can help it. I, too, want to keep it fairly clear and read-able.

Rest assured I'll be getting the forum members' input as changes come online.

    Thanks!
