Recent discussion pertaining the items that may be of interest to starting characters have inspired the need to consider expanding the Goods and Services Lists that can currently be found in the World Guide on pages 98 and 99 (currently), as part of the fiction in the section on Commerce.
This list covers, to a somewhat limited extent, the types of common things that might come into play when role-playing events of trade and commerce in the setting of Dárdünah, and has a variety of trade goods and services listed as an example both of the variable value of such things, as well as the time it takes to acquire or produce them by hand in cases where such goods cannot be found, pre-made and "on the shelf" so to speak... Remember that the worldwide economy of Dárdünah is not based on our more modern ideas of mass-production and swift transport, but on the fact that even with the help of simple devices like looms and mold-making and such, every item you would find in a market in Dárdünah is made by hand,..working on that thing till its done, at which point the artisan will move on to the next object... There is no concept of "assembly-line production" or "automated-manufacturing"...
So if you particularly observant types may perceive holes in this list that you may want to see filled (things mentioned in other areas of the fiction that you don't see listed here, and are curious about), while you particularly creative types might be thinking of cool, Dárdüni based items that you have come up with that you'd like to see mentioned here as well,... either way,.. it would be a pleasure to have you guys respond to this post with your thoughts and ideas,..and I’ll do my best to consider them and potentially incorporate them into the existing lists so as to expand the variety and size of the offering for future player!
If you haven't read the lists in the World Guide already,..please feel free to check 'em out,..and give a few postings here pertaining to what you might like to see included there, whether they might be things of your own creation that you think would fit handily into the world, or things that you think I may have accidentally left out.. I'd love to see them,..and would appreciate this kind of input..
Thanks!!
Scottie
