  • Here we have another wonderfully-evocative work by Richard Fox, which will be the opening image for the World Guide's chapter on "Commerce", depicting a busy little corner of a marketplace. Here's the bit of text that accompanies it! Enjoy! "Trade and commerce on Dárdünah has been the lifeblood of its many cultures since the most ancient times, keeping the wheels of government, society, and even faith continuously turning. There is a certain energy that seems to pervade places where money and go…

We provide the tools for cooking up new custom Animal Templates in our Basic Compendium! And feel free, if you're tired of seeing your same-old avatar for your forum character, to use one from the selection we created or even upload one of your own! Enjoy!

  • Here's a work-in-progress painting from a friend of mine, Richard Fox, which we will be using for the very first image, of our very first chapter in the "World Guide", which we're madly trying to finish so we can have it by Gen Con of 2020! Here's the bit of text that accompanies it! Enjoy! "My name is Rakúlna, Sunborn and Master of the Scrolls at the Academy of Nilám in Hanálu. It is with great honor that I bring my brush to parchment on this the first day of Yauvánu at the beginning of the bel…

Quote from Reidon: “Even though the cost is 8 I thought it would be the level of the linked characteristic? Mainly due to the idea of level caps and in the rules it stats that the starting value is X(x being the linked characteristic). So if you only had a five agility it would be 5 to start(or depending on the martial arts out of the Martial arts/magic book it would be the linked X. ” Hmn, not quite, let me clarify... The cost of purchasing any particular Skills, as indicated on the Skill List,…

In addition to what Griffin indicates, there is an entire list of potential Skills in the book that each have their own initial purchase price (to get that base starting value as Griffin mentioned), plus a price to buy it up from that at a rate that could vary from 2 to 5 points for each point worth of increase, depending on whether what kind of Skill you're talking about. For instance, as Griffin mentioned, Martial Arts costs 8 point to initially purchase it (when making your character) plus 5 …

Welcome Silverbolt!!! It's great that you're interested in our world! Like Griffin mentioned, keep in touch with us here and hopefully we can arrange another demo for you to experience! If you have any questions, just let us know! Scottie

  • I am more than willing to run short demos for folks on occasion, though I'm taking a hiatus from running full-blown campaign games for at least the next year as we finish up the World Guide and then prepare for Gen Con 2020! I live in the Austin area as well, and if you gather a group of like-minded folks together (six or less) we can talk about setting it up for some weekend! Scottie

  • Sewers in Dardnah

Heh! I think you are trying to inquire as to whether Dárdüni cities have sewers or not, and the general answer is, essentially yes! The last campaign I ran featured a group of vagabond child-aged street thieves who absolutely knew their way around the "underground" of the city, which was not only composed of tunnels where the waste-water of the city would flow (from either ceramic pipes emerging from beneath buildings, or through drainage holes and street-side sluices that funnel rainwater and c…

  • Here's a fun set of info meant for the eventual Appendices of the World Guide, discussing rules for players (and their GMs) who want to invent new and exciting things for their personal Shard RPG campaigns! Tacked onto it is also a little bit more about skyships, including a set of diagrams showing details on all the decks of a typical privateer-style ship... Fun stuff! Remember, all of this is still considered "unedited" right now, and may change a bite here and there for the final publication.…

  • Griffin, you are totally free to share the "Rules for Invention" which we intend to include in the Appendices of the World Guide. In fact, to make it easier for everyone, I'll provide a link below to open up a document I've added to another area on the forums that include just what you're looking to share! dardunah.com/forum4/index.php/…entions-and-Skyships-pdf/ The concept of a petard is certainly not a new one, and its essential form in the world of Shard could look like what you see in the sh…

Oh my god that may be one of the best things I've ever SEEN!!!

  • Delightfully wonderful! I love all the various details... Mulefoot had mentioned that the buckles are meant to be mother of pearl, which is an excellent visual replacement for the expectation of metal qualities. I can imagine the centipede broach being Amber, and the upper arm bands made of oiled suthra leather strips adorned with beads... The crystalline spear tip and the roughly carved jewel earrings are glorious as well! Even the handle of her weapon has that sheen of green scarab chitin... B…

  • Welcome Wielder! So glad Mulefoot introduced you to us! I'm so glad you're enjoying the lore we've offered so far. • Quote from Teenage Mutant Sarpah: “Tamaystra is only given one mention in the glossary so easy to miss but has anyone ever played a PC born on this night? Or has an NPC born on this night ever figured into your games? ” As of yet, No player of mine has chosen to be born during that time of ill-luck, but I've certainly run games and demos where players were forced to go out and deal with baneful foes under those circumstances... Always "good times"...

It's actually amazing how the percentage of literacy versus illiteracy can vary between different historical cultures on Earth at varying periods in history. The reasons for that variance are sometimes apparent (based on various cultural paradigms as well as legal and class-based mandates), and at other times they seem to be oddly random or mysterious... Though we do intend to explore this in a bit more detail in the World Guide, there are some clues concerning these question generally stated in…
