Examples of Darduni weapons

Here's a sampling of the range of weapons that one might find in our game. As you can see, Colin predicted quite well the look we were going for when considering cool weapon styles...

The idea behind the odd look and coloration of these weapons is that they are not made with any kind of metals, and are instead crafted with the various strange materials native to our world, including a variety of exotic woods, stone, crystal, giant insect chitin and shell, and a substance called "amber" (looking much like Earth ambers) derived from the sap of a special tree, which hardens when touched by air into something akin to plexiglass or tough plastic.

And, of course, what would an exotic and alien world be without LIVING weapons, some of which can be seen here.

Nice. A good mixture of Chinese, Indian, Filipino, Malaysian, Indonesian, Native American, African, Turkish, and Japanese weaponry there. Gorgeous illustrations as well.

Love the living weapons especially, and it immediately brings to mind the Tarsier pic I posted where he has a necklace of living beetles that he's using in his sling-staff.

Crystal and glass weapons would greatly effect the martial art styles of the warriors wielding them. The hacking and slashing would be out for most of the bladed weapons do to their fragile nature. I imagine crystal weapons would add more of an artful flavor to combat than what is seen in normal fighting. A warrior would have to be faster and more accurate with strikes. I could see something like forms designed to use the blades beauty to confuse the opponent with swirling colors and then abruptly strike the vitals. It would be like a cross between Tai-chi sword fighting and western fencing.

Oh yeah, are the guns run on black powder or some other sort of material and are the bullets crystal, because that would do some major damage when they fracture.

The styles you mentioned, hex, would almost certainly have come about on Dardunah. That said, the various crystals of Dardunah have unique properties that make them very resilient. The crystals used to make weapons are especially tough and durable. They can shatter, but those events are rare.

Vaylah weapons use a variety of materials for their bullets, including insect chitin, Amber, stone, and crystals. Some are designed to shatter when they strike a target but these are risky as they can sometime shatter inside the barrel (in which case they become like really weak shotguns). But this usually damages the barrels as well.

Yep,...just as Aaron says...

Essentially, imagine that, in the universe of our world, the structure of the grade of crystal used to make most weapons is as strong and resilient as forged metal is on Earth... And as Aaron mentioned, crystal weapons can shatter occasionally, but it is rare in the same way that a metal sword shattering on Earth is a fairly rare event...

What are their methods of processing crystals though?

Crystals on Dardunah can be grown (a slow process depending on the type of crystal) or smelted together from a variety of other lesser crystals in a very hot furnace in a process similar to making glass. Some crystals can be created magically, while others can only be mined and cut to specific shapes.
